The 9mm round is considered weak due to its performance when using Full Metal Jacket ammunition or a heavier bullet weight (like 147 grain). However, as many others have already pointed out, the 9mm round is very effective when using Jacketed Hollow Point ammunition and a bullet weight between 115 grain and 127 grain. Most importantly, as one person wrote, “shot placement is key.”

Now, that’s not to say that .40 S&W, 357 SIG, or .45 ACP rounds are a waste of money or not better than the 9mm (.40 S&W gained quite a following in the 90s due to it street performance and the 357 SIG is starting to make its mark too)…but to say that the 9mm is weak or ineffective is wrong.

Essentially it comes down to selecting the correct bullet weight for the type of ammo you want to use. And heavier doesn’t necessarily mean better.

Here is a link to an article with a nice history on how Law Enforcement went from the .38 Special to the 9mm and onto the .40 S&W as the favorite round of choice:

http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/ayoob93.html

And as the article notes, many depts still use the 9mm and some have moved up to the .45 ACP.

In the end, you should use the caliber that you are the most accurate with…

The reason not to use tap water would be if the water source was contaminated in some way, shape, or form. If your city/town had a recent scare where you were required to boil water, that may be an indication. I have heard some instances where small traces of bacteria that cause intestinal parasites such as Giardia have been present in tap water. Whether they are large enough to affect your dog is another matter. Best thing to do is to check out the quarterly water report your city/town issues and make your decision.

On the contrary, some tap water has benefits for dogs (and humans as well). For instance, my parents’ tap water contains hearty levels of calcium, which has lead to strong teeth and bones in their brittney spaniel. (Conversely, it is TERRIBLE for trying to take a shower and have all the shower head holes not be plugged).

Boy Scouting is a program aimed at younger boys(10 1/2 to 15), Venturing aims at boys AND girls 14-21.

Are you referring to a Venture patrol within a troop, or a separate Venturing Crew? Within the troop, they provide advanced leadership; within an independent crew they explore an activity in depth.

Boy Scouting highly structured, skills/tasks assigned.

Venturing lightly structured with much more flexibility.

Boy Scouts leadership directed by adults, carried out by youth. (I know this is not the doctrine, but it is the common practice.)

Venturing, leadership directed more by youth, with adult supervision.

Rank and awards stressed more in Boy Scouts, Venturers have a more flexible reward trail with many variants. Focus is on the activity, not on earning recognition.

Boy Scouts focus on outdoor skills, Venturers can pick their own focus from wide variety of avocations from art to zoology.

If you need additional information, try the Yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/venturinglist/

Keep on Scoutin’ (and Venturin&#821

Ha i have the same prob but im 16!
Yea well i have heaps of methods for this..but i go to sleep at like 3 am anyways ha. First of all i’ll tell ya why this happens….

In ur brain there is this thing called the circaidian clock..( i think i spelt it right)
and that tells u when ur sleepy…anyway that always changes and adjusts..like an alarm clock…if u constantly go to sleep at 12am then ur circaidian clock will be like…ok this is my new sleeping time…and u’ll only feel sleepy at that time…to fix this you need to go to sleep earlier..

Ok now my methods:

I pray…im a catholic but not hard out so yea…it sounds stupid and boring but it makes me feel beter and i can go to sleep…just pray about stuff like thanking god 4 ur day and stuff..

Exercise…i run everyday and that gets me a bit tired i guess…but u need ta push urself..

Avoid drinks and t.v

Long baths

Yea thats about it for me…my best seems to be the exercising method kuz it gets me sleepy and then i go to bed at like 11pm then my circaidian clock is like hey! this is my new bedtime! yea…

hope i helped

dont take the sleeping pills tho plzz….really dont..it can hurt you
